Combination Therapeutics
Recent research has focused on identifying combination of drugs or dietary supplements with maximum effect at minimal dosage levels. However, the in vitro and in vivo experimental techniques to discover these combinations can be very time consuming and expensive. Based on proprietary in silico technology and a feedback systems design that mines existing peer-reviewed literature for validated molecular mechanisms, while reusing scientific data from wet lab and clinical trials, CytoSolve’s platform offers a revolutionary and proven integrative information-centric platform that accurately model complex molecular mechanisms and can be used for discovering multi-combination therapies and dietary supplements faster and cheaper.
Recently, we used CytoSolve’s platform to optimize a combination of curcumin and resveratrol, two natural anti-inflammatory compounds. We developed in silico models of inflammation and tested individual as well as combination of curcumin and resveratrol on the levels of inflammation. Although both, curcumin and resveratrol, reduced the inflammation levels by 66% and 60%, respectively, when combined at a much lower dosage levels, the inflammation was reduced by 75%. This is an example of synergistic effect of combination drugs that can achieve higher efficacy at low dosage levels of therapeutics.
