CytoSolve® Validation of Redoxx® and Bug Check® for Companion and Performance Animals

The Natural Vet® is a science-focused animal health company dedicated to developing nutraceutical and topical solutions for companion and performance animals. Its product portfolio emphasizes natural ingredients, safety, and evidence-based validation. To support regulatory compliance and NASC expectations, The Natural Vet® prioritizes mechanistic substantiation for multi-ingredient formulations beyond traditional single-ingredient testing.

Challenge

The Natural Vet® sought robust scientific validation for two complex formulations:

  • Redoxx® – Demonstrating that a multi-ingredient antioxidant supplement could meaningfully support mitochondrial energy metabolism and redox homeostasis through coordinated biological pathways.
  • Bug Check® – Validating repellent efficacy driven by multiple active ingredients acting on insect sensory and behavioral avoidance mechanisms, while maintaining safety across horses, dogs, and cats.
Conventional testing approaches are limited in their ability to assess synergistic interactions across pathways and species, and often require extensive in vivo studies that are costly and time-intensive.

How CytoSolve Helped

CytoSolve® applied its systems biology–based combination screening methodology to model and analyze both formulations:

Redoxx® Combination Modeling

  • Built a biological network encompassing oxidative stress regulation, mitochondrial respiration, ATP synthesis, and antioxidant defense systems.
  • Simulated the combined effects of Redoxx® ingredients on interconnected energy metabolism pathways.
  • Assessed whether ingredient interactions produced synergistic or complementary effects at the systems level.

Bug Check® Repellent Modeling

  • Modeled insect olfactory, neural signaling, and behavioral avoidance pathways targeted by repellent actives.
  • Evaluated how multiple ingredients collectively contributed to repellent activity rather than relying on single-compound assumptions.
  • Screened for alignment with mammalian biological pathways relevant to horses, dogs, and cats to support safety considerations.

Key Benefits Realized

  • Mechanistic Combination Validation – Confirmed pathway-level synergy for multi-ingredient formulations
  • Energy Metabolism Support – Substantiated Redoxx®’s role in mitochondrial efficiency and oxidative balance
  • Multi-Pathway Repellent Activity – Validated Bug Check®’s systems-level mode of action
  • Cross-Species Applicability – Addressed horses, dogs, and cats within a unified modeling framework
  • NASC-Ready Substantiation – Generated credible scientific rationale suitable for quality and regulatory review
  • Reduced Reliance on Animal Testing – Accelerated validation while supporting ethical research practices

Outcome

Through CytoSolve®’s computational biosimulation platform, The Natural Vet® obtained mechanistic, systems-level validation for both Redoxx® and Bug Check®. The results strengthened product credibility, supported NASC-aligned substantiation strategies, and reinforced the scientific foundation of The Natural Vet®’s multi-ingredient formulations. This case study demonstrates how in silico combination screening can de-risk product development while meeting modern regulatory and ethical expectations in animal health.
